Type Locality and Naming

In the Tyumenbaya Mountains, Central Kyzylkum.

Synonym: Tyumenbaytau Suite, Тюменбайтауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), gravelites, shales, conglomerates. Thickness: 170-200m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The lower boundary with the Upper Llandovery deposits is tectonic

Upper contact

The upper boundary is assumed to be conformable with the Kosbulak Fm.

Regional extent

According to the decision of the stratigraphic conference on the compilation of the legend for the geodynamic map of Central Kyzylkum in 1992 (Abduazimova et al., 1993). Central Kyzylkum, right bank of the Kuskumbaysay, from the upper reaches of the Dzhengeldysay in the east to the end of the Tamdin Ridge in the west.

Monograptus (Testograptus) testis (Barr.), M. flemingi Salter, Monoclimacis flumendosae (Gort.); chitinozoans - Margachitina margaritana Eis., Conochitina acuminata Eis., C. flamma Lauf., C. tuba Eis., and others.


Age 

Age determined by graptolites. It is an age and lithological analogue of the Kuskumbay Fm according to A.I. Kim et al. (1974), Z.M. Abduazimova et al. (1989, 1993, 1996, 165), and the Dzhaksan Fm according to A.K. Bukharin et al. (122).
